New beginnings

Well, it's that time of the year again when we reminisce, wonder where the year's gone, assess ourselves and make new year's resolutions that we know we won't keep!  It's a time of new beginnings and fresh starts that most of the times don't last very long after the fireworks have died down.

But for me, it's really different this time round because I really will be starting new in every sense!

Next year is going to be SOOOO different it's CRAZY!  Not only will I have a new job (the best job in the world if you ask me! ) but I'll be leaving home, living in a new country, meeting new people, making new friends, etc.  I'll even have a different mobile number!!!   I'll be completely uncomfortable and nomadic.

I've been trying to think what the best way to prepare myself is and I think besides praying (number one!), it's to look back on what got me to where I am now.

This year has been hectic!

* I said bye to one family of mission partners (Victorinos) and hello to another (Manalads).
*
I got my first ever pet ... my fishes!
* We started the year off well with DIVE and followed up with entry camp after entry camp.
* I became a grandmummy when my fishes gave birth!
* I got my P's (provisional driver's license) ... FINALLY!!!
* I missed my first Oceania conference since 2000!
* My fishes had more babies
*
I went to VIENNA, AUSTRIA!!!
* I went to WORLD GAT!!!
* I went to POLAND!!!
* I went to my first GLOBAL LEADERS FORUM!!!
* I went to ROME, ITALY!!!  Like I was in VATICAN and in the SISTINE CHAPEL!!!
* We laid to rest one of the most loving and generous people I know ... Tita Emmie
* My upper and lower households this year have been awesome!
* We ended the year well with the Power Bootcamp and our cool Christmas party!

And now, I'm going to go and live a completely different life!

I NEVER, I repeat, NEVER EVER expected at the beginning of the year that this is how I'd be ending the year.  To be honest I expected that after Europe I'd find another job or else prepare to go study again and then I'd "retire" as cluster head at the end of the year and concentrate on my career, family and relationship next year.  It's so true how God can just take your plans and give you something greater than you could ever have dreamed of!

2006 has had it's high's and low's like all other years but it's been a great year.

I feel 2007 is going to bring big changes, different adventures, new experiences and rewarding challenges!  I think it's going to be a year to truly remember and I'm so excited! It's kinda fitting how all this is happening in 2007 eh?  Seven being a heavenly number and all   Hehe!

So what's my new year's resolutions?  Hmmm ... I resolve to not have any expectations, to be open to everything, to be more loving, to live each and every day to the fullest, to start and end each day with a smile, but above all to place complete trust and hope in God!  It's going to be a BIG year!!!

Well, I will probably not be able to blog for a while so I hope you all have an extra special and very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a blessed and prosperous new year!!!

See you in 2007!!!  GOD BLESS!

Love is in the air ...

Is it just me or does everyone seem to be getting engaged/married lately?  Cupid's been really busy!  LOL!  It's cool! I'm jealous though!  Haha!  I wish I could settle down with e na.  Why did God have to call me?!    LOL!  JUST JOKING PEEPS!!!

Anyways, just want to say that I love e so much .  I broke the news to him on Friday night over dinner on the beach (way to ruin a romantic moment I tell ya! LOL!).  He was really good about it.  He's so funny talaga.  He started giving me "rules" like I can't hug any guys and I can't wear skirts or short shorts and I have to be careful and stuff.  He was even like, "Ay naman ... I won't be there to protect you."  Aww ... then I cried.   ME, not him!

So how do I feel post-initial-excitement-of-receiving-the-news?

STILL EXCITED BABY!!!  Haha!

Well actually ... to be honest ... I'm scared.  Scared of being away from home and having to look after myself, scared of not being financially stable anymore, scared of the unknown, scared that I'll come back a different person and e won't love me anymore  (so dramatic eh?!).

[Btw, I don't really mean that last point ... I wouldn't be doing this if I wasn't completely sure about e and if I wasn't completely confident that we'll get through this ... TOGETHER  ]

Anyways, I'm also sad.   Sad to leave my family behind, sad to leave YFC Sydney esp South Cluster, sad to leave work (NOT!), sad to leave e (OF COURSE!) esp the possibility that we won't be together for our 5 year anniversary/his 29th birthday.

But I am still very much excited!   Excited at the chance to really do God's work, excited at the people I'll meet, excited at the places I'll see, excited at the adventures I'll have, excited to be doing something I consider worthwhile and meaningful!

So yeah ... it's scary ... it's sad ... but it's exciting!  My life is going to change in a major way!  And I know when I come back I'll be a different person (but e will still love me ).

OMG!  I only have a month to say bye to everyone!

Bible quote for the day ...

"Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behaviour of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.  Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewellery and fine clothes.  Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.  For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful."
~ 1 Peter 3:1-5 ~
